-cover page: i like how you have positioned everything on this page. Everything is put around the image so that it has a good flow and it is clear for the reader. i would say for improvements you should improve on the masthead font and colours so it stands out on the page.
-Contents page: i like your location imagery it looks very proffessional on the page. to improve, position the contents along the one whole side of the page so it looks clearer and more effective.
-dps: the main imagery is very good and the image on the right page s very humorous. Maybe move one of the coverlines like the 'insanity' coverline onto the right page so that the pages are more balanced with the colour purple.
The masthead works really well, especially with the colour scheme that you have worked out as the font that you have used looks really good in that colour. However, why is the competition coverline a different shade of blue to the rest of your colour scheme?
The layout makes sense as it makes sense and everything fits in around the photo without any text being too small to read.
However, the barcode overlaps one of the coverlines slightly and the main coverline is at angles, which doesn't really makes sense and doesn't really appreal to your target audience.
Finally, I think that there doesn't need to be an '&' before the Fatass name as convention dictates that you can simply have all three artists named side by side.
Contents Page
The photography that you have used on the contents page is amazing. The lighting in your picture of Sara makes her seem mysterious and Fatima looks like a real artist as well. The way that you have put ‘Meet Insanity’ with the page number overlapping the picture really works as it frees up space and you can see what is there.
However, I don’t think that you need boxes around Fatima and the Editor’s Letter. Also, the Editor’s Letter seems to discredit the articles by suggesting that the competition is the only thing that is really worth buying the magazine for.
The picture of Insanity makes it seem as though they don’t really care about being interviewed; I think it would be better if they were looking at the camera, but the lighting is really good.
Finally, the page number is a little large; in conventional magazines, the page number is more discreet.
DPS
The photo page is excellent! The photo makes them seem like confident artist who get along well and the pull quote is really enticing; also, the description in black under ‘Insanity’ is conventional in that it mentions three things that have been talked about in the journalism. However, I don't think the other photo is that good; they look like they have been sucking on lemons.
In your journalism: I wouldn't say that two people counts as a girl group, but the informal language appeals to your target audience. Also, because you are interviewing more than one person, I like how you have put the initials of the person who is speaking as this shows convention. However, it is unclear who is Kadey and who is Siray. The fan mail question seems to come out of nowhere and is a little random.
You’ve spelled Twitter wrong, however I like the link to social media sites as most of your target audience will use this; how about reference to YouTube and/or Facebook somewhere in your magazine as well? Because of this, I also think that it shows good audience interaction that you put the other photos from the shoot on the magazine’s website.
Finally, again, the page number is a little too big.
